MADRID
Spain's
capital is a multiple city, made up of people who have come from all over
Spain and which is open to new social tendencies. The Madrid of the
Austrias, of the Borbones, Romantic, traditional, sophisticated and
modern, these are but a few of the facets that the city will show us
during our visit.

Spain's
capital is situated at the heart of the peninsula, right in the middle of
the Castillian meseta, 646 metres above sea level and has over three
million inhabitants. It is a cosmopolitan city, a business centre, home to
the central public administration, the Government of the State, and the
Spanish Parliament as well as being the habitual residence of he Monarchs.
It is a top-level banking and industrial city; the latter sector is mainly
visible on the southern periphery, where there are important textile, food
and metallurgical companies, among others. Madrid is characterised by
intense cultural and artistic activity and a very active nightlife.

reliefs are characterised by
special kinds of landforms and
occur in predominantly limestone
areas, as this rock is sensitive to
dissolution by water. This causes
strange structures to form both on
the surface (doline, lapiaz, polje) andunderground
(sinks, galleries, caves).
